Who are we?

Alpha Phi Omega is an international co-ed service fraternity. Since the founding in 1925, there have been more than 495,000 students over 375 campuses participating in the brotherhood worldwide. The University of Washington chapter has about 50 active members and we are consistently working to build a larger and stronger chapter. We are an inclusive organization, happy to welcome anyone with a passion for service and brotherhood.

Our Cardinal Principles

Leadership

We work on building great leaders. LEADS (Launch, Explore, Achieve, Discover, and Serve) is a series of courses that teach skills that make a great leader. Members can also build their leadership skills by becoming an officer. Our chapter works to identify goals and ways to improve for the next year.

Fellowship

We learn to overlook differences and create a strong bond between brothers. Chapter retreats provide a way to hang out with each other and get to know one another better. Alpha Phi Omega is a great way to make friends on campus and to find people with similar interests.

Service

Service is the core of our organization. Our members want to give back to the community, and APO provides many opportunities to do exactly that. All chapters participate in ways to provide service to the campus, community, nation, and fraternity.

Our History

The fraternity was founded by Frank Reed Horton on December 16, 1925 at Lafayette College. Alpha Phi Omega is based on the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America. The University of Washington chapter was founded on December 9, 1939, and flourished until 1978. The chapter was rechartered in 1992, and again rechartered in 2012.

Alpha Phi Omega is an international fraternity. There are chapters at universities all over the United States, as well as in the Philippines, Canada, and Australia.

Alpha Phi Omega was started to give college students a place where they could develop leadership, promote friendship and provide service to humanity. Alpha Phi Omega is a great way to get involved on campus and to meet some great new friends!
